About Hudson

Property finance built on
experience, relationships and trust.

Hudson Finance is a New Zealand-owned private property finance company working directly with investors, borrowers, brokers and professional advisers. We facilitate short-term, first-mortgage lending opportunities secured by New Zealand property, combining disciplined assessment with a practical and relationship-driven approach.

We believe finance works best when communication is direct, expectations are clear and the people involved in a transaction can speak directly with those making the decisions.

Who we are

A focused team with broad experience.

Hudson was established to provide a more direct and commercially considered approach to private property finance. We work closely with private investors seeking individually selected, property-backed investment opportunities and with borrowers requiring responsive short-term funding.

Our structure allows us to assess each transaction on its own merits. We consider the property, borrower, purpose, timeframe, loan structure and proposed exit strategy before determining whether there is a practical lending solution. Because Hudson is a focused and experienced team, clients are not passed between departments or separated from the people assessing and administering their transaction.

At Hudson, the people you speak with are the people working on your transaction.

Our role

Connecting private capital with property-backed opportunities.

For investors

Hudson presents individual, first-mortgage lending opportunities to qualifying wholesale investors. Each opportunity is considered separately, allowing investors to review the security, valuation, LVR, borrower, term, pricing and proposed exit strategy before deciding whether to participate.

For borrowers

Hudson provides short-term property-backed funding for business and investment purposes. Borrowers can approach Hudson directly or through a broker and receive a commercial initial view from the team assessing the transaction.

Learn about borrowing

Hudson also works closely with brokers, solicitors, accountants and other professional advisers throughout the lending process — see our broker page.

How we work

Disciplined where it matters. Flexible where it helps.

Private lending requires both sound judgement and practical execution. Hudson maintains clear lending standards and careful due diligence while recognising that every property transaction has its own circumstances, timing and challenges. We stay disciplined around security, serviceability and a credible exit strategy, while remaining flexible about how a well-supported transaction can be structured and progressed.

Direct communication

Investors, borrowers and advisers deal directly with Hudson’s account managers and decision-makers — clearer communication, and issues addressed efficiently.

Commercial assessment

Transactions are considered on their individual merits rather than assessed solely through rigid or automated criteria.

Disciplined lending

Acceptable property security, conservative lending positions, credible borrowers and clearly defined repayment strategies.

Practical execution

Where a transaction fits, Hudson works constructively with the parties involved to structure, document and progress the loan.

What sets us apart

Finance is personal. Our approach is too.

People-first approach

Every transaction involves people, plans and pressures that cannot always be understood through numbers alone. We take the time to understand the circumstances, communicate clearly and provide an honest view on whether Hudson can assist.

Long-term relationships

We are not focused solely on completing the immediate transaction. Hudson aims to develop enduring relationships with investors, borrowers, brokers and advisers by providing consistent service and maintaining trust over time.

Proven process, flexible execution

We bring structure and discipline to assessment, documentation and administration, while retaining the flexibility to consider practical solutions where the transaction supports them.

Direct access

Hudson operates without unnecessary layers of bureaucracy. Clients have a direct line to the people reviewing, approving and managing their transaction throughout its life.

The Hudson team

Experience you can speak to directly.

Hudson brings together experience across private lending, property law, finance, operations, marketing and relationship management. Our team works closely across each transaction, allowing investors, borrowers and advisers to access the relevant people without navigating layers of departments or administration. From the first conversation through assessment, documentation, settlement and ongoing loan administration, the people who understand the transaction remain accessible and involved.
